Show Vertical Text on Graph | | |
|
Got this idea from one
of my friend, he was
trying to show
a vertical text in the Y
axis, of a graph. I tried
to solve his problem, but
find the solution quite
interesting to be shared
among you all, so here
comes this note.
The problem statement is
like this " how can
I add a vertical texture
in my graph coding".
The solution is to use
java.awt.image,
java.awt.geom packages
and create a string
"Y axis->"
and by just rotating it by
90 degrees, I was able
to achive the same
|
The source code for this sample is like this:
GraphApplet.java
Required imports.
public class GraphApplet extends Applet
{
Graphics2D g2d;
Image axisX, graph;
MediaTracker tracker;
public void init() {
setBackground(Color.white);
try{
tracker = new MediaTracker(this);
axisX = getImage(getDocumentBase(),"graph1.jpg");
tracker.addImage(axisX, 0);
tracker.waitForID(0);
} catch(Exception ex) {
}
}
public void paint(Graphics g) {
/* Creating a Graphics2D object. */
g2d = (Graphics2D)g;
AffineTransform at = new AffineTransform();
/* Rotating the image by 90 degrees. */
at.rotate(Math.toRadians(-90),50,110);
/* drawing the images at a position calculated
by some adjustments */
g2d.drawImage(axisX,60,60, null);
g2d.drawString("X axis ->",80,190);
g2d.transform(at);
g2d.drawString("Y axis->",50,110);
}
}
The coordinates are mere calculations and adjustments
as when needed. Better algoritm to have dynamic runtime values,
is always a better idea, instead of using the hard coded values.
